Philosophy
It all started with the fascinating discovery that our body can heal itself. With the help of molecular medicine, we understand progressively more about the biological processes that take place in the bone, muscle and in the joint.Several proteins are responsible for the development of arthritis and these can be made harmless through their antagonists. This is where molecular orthopaedics comes into play: autologous substances are revolutionizing the treatment of orthopaedic diseases. They stop inflammation, regenerate the joint cartilage and induce an accelerated healing of bone breakages.
It is of great importance to note that we are dealing with so called “autologous therapies”, that is, your body’s own substances. For this reason least the locally used therapies show low side effects and high tolerance.
Development of new molecular therapies
As a Centre for Molecular Orthopaedics we commit ourselves to implant these modern biotechnical therapies into the field of Orthopaedics and to develop new therapies. This is why aside from our daily occupations in the clinic, we place a large emphasis on medical research. In our own lab we are actively working on orthopaedic disease research and we produce some of our own treatments. Thus, we have participated actively in the development of Orthokin, the body’s own arthritis medication.
