Foundations of Orthokin ® therapy

In osteoarthritis and cartilage injuries there will be inflammation of the spine or joints. The substance interleukin-1 (IL-1) plays a crucial role in this inflammatory process. Interleukin-1 (red balls) harms and destroys the articulated cells occupied by the receptors.

Interleukin-1 receptor (blue balls) stops the inflammation. If the concentration of IL-1Ra in the joint higher than that of IL-1, it prevents the docking of IL-1Ra to the receptors of the inner surfaces of the joint cartilage. The Orthokin ® drug blocks access for interleukin-1 (red balls) to the tissue receptor cells and makes it harmless. The joint cells are protected. The arthritis can not spread.

The interleukin-1 receptor (blue sphere) reduces osteoarthritis by “filling” the receptor cells of the joints and thus protects them against the aggressive interleukin-1 (red ball). The inflammation comes to a standstill.
